Instead of just asking for business, focus on adding value. Invite clients to events, share relevant articles, offer new insights, or provide practical tips. These <strong>creative client follow-up strategies<\/strong> help build trust, position you as an expert, and lead to stronger, long-lasting client relationships.Here\u2019s what a typical follow-up looks like for a past customer you haven\u2019t heard from in a while:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHi, Moshe. How are you? Long time no talk.<br \/>\nHow about another collaboration?<br \/>\nDo you have any upcoming plans?<br \/>\nIs the need you had back then still relevant?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s what a follow-up might look like for a potential customer you recently sent a quote to:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHi, Deborah. How are you?<br \/>\nDid you read the proposal I sent?<br \/>\nWhat do you think? Ready to move forward?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both are standard follow-ups, a bit &#8220;dry,&#8221; not very engaging, and mainly driven by <strong>&#8220;taking&#8221;<\/strong>\u2014what can I get from the customer? When will they finally pay me?<\/p>\n<p>The obvious and immediate reason for this type of follow-up is to speed up a deal so I can get paid for my products and services as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow-ups are important!<\/strong><br \/>\nThey\u2019re a crucial part of the sales process. Many people are passive, sitting on the fence, and they need a reminder or a gentle nudge to purchase what they want and need.<br \/>\n(If a customer doesn\u2019t want or need your product or service, no follow-up will help. You\u2019ll just come off as annoying or pushy.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s better to do a mediocre or technical follow-up than to not follow up at all and disappear after sending a quote or having a sales call\/meeting.<\/p>\n<p>But if you\u2019re going to follow up, do it right. Do it for the right reasons, from a place of <strong>giving<\/strong>, not just taking.<br \/>\nReach out to past or potential customers not just to close a sale, but with a creative, generous approach that aims to offer something of value.<\/p>\n<p>This is known as RTC\u2014Reason To Call. How are you? Last time we spoke, we talked about [specific topic],<br \/>\nand I just published an article\/wrote a post on Facebook\/recorded a video on it.<br \/>\nHere\u2019s the link. Hope you enjoy reading\/watching!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reason #3 to Call:<\/strong><br \/>\nShare an external article.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHi, Avi. How are you?<br \/>\nI thought of you because last time we spoke, we discussed this trend in the market\/regulations\/issues your company is facing.<br \/>\nYesterday, a news article on this topic was published on Channel 12\/a bill on this passed\/a CNN report on what\u2019s happening in the U.S. came out.<br \/>\nI\u2019m sending you the link\u2014feel free to reach out if you want to chat about it after you read it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reason #4 to Call:<\/strong><br \/>\nShare a new insight or practical tip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHi, Sigalit. I\u2019m following up because I had a thought after our last conversation,<br \/>\nand I\u2019ve got a creative idea on how you can move forward with [specific issue]\u2026<br \/>\nI attended a similar event yesterday, and I have a suggestion that might help with your upcoming event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s common to all these follow-ups?<\/strong><br \/>\nIn each case, you\u2019re reaching out to customers to offer them something (a tip, information, connection, idea, invitation) instead of just trying to take from them.<br \/>\nIn all cases, you\u2019re signaling to the customers (subconsciously, and now I\u2019m making it conscious) that you are\u2026 an expert! Updated! In the know! Continuously learning! Well-connected! And more.<\/p>\n<p>Some customers may not respond to such follow-ups, but at least they won\u2019t find you annoying or see you in a negative light. On the contrary, it can create a positive impression!<br \/>\nFor those who do respond, this is the perfect time to discuss the open proposal they have or renew your business relationship.<\/p>\n<p>This is how you do follow-ups correctly\u2014more creatively, more effectively\u2014standing out &#8220;above the noise,&#8221; especially in competitive or saturated markets where clients are regularly approached by suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?
