By using unique and thoughtful follow-up strategies, <strong>you can stand out<\/strong> to past clients <strong>and increase<\/strong> your chances of securing repeat business.<\/p>\n<p>For those who work with companies and provide them with services or products, this situation may sound familiar: a company reaches out (or you initiated contact), you discuss their needs and send a quote, but then&#8230; silence.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t get back to you, leaving you wondering what happened.<\/p>\n<p>So, what now?<\/p>\n<p>You could wait, thinking, \u201cI did my part; the ball is in their court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But I\u2019m a believer in being proactive\u2014what in Judaism is called \u201chishtadlut,\u201d the effort on our part, even while leaving the outcome to higher powers.<\/p>\n<p>In sales, it\u2019s called \u201cfollow-up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s why a follow-up is often essential.<\/p>\n<p>Based on two decades of consulting experience, I\u2019ve found that companies don\u2019t usually go silent because they chose another provider. Often, it\u2019s due to delayed decisions, postponed projects, holidays, or simply lost proposals in the company\u2019s internal system.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, how can you stand out and follow up in a way that\u2019s memorable?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Effective Follow-Up:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most people follow up by \u201cchecking in,\u201d but this can come across as annoying or self-serving. Instead, try a more creative, giving approach called \u201cReason to Call (RTC).\u201d Here are a few examples:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cHey, Pazit! Remember when we discussed [topic]? A new article just came out about it. I thought you\u2019d find it interesting\u2014sending it over.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWe talked about market changes in our last call, and now there\u2019s a new law that could impact you. Here\u2019s a quick overview of what\u2019s ahead.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI was at a client\u2019s event today, and it reminded me of what we discussed. Here are some pictures and insights from that activity!\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each example here has a few things in common:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You\u2019re Giving, Not Taking<\/strong>: Offering value, be it through connections, insights, tips, or invitations\u2014before they even hire you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You Show You Care<\/strong>: You remember your conversations and demonstrate genuine interest in helping them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You Bring Something New<\/strong>: Your follow-up isn\u2019t just a check-in; it adds value and surprises them with something they didn\u2019t expect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, in a recent international speakers\u2019 meeting, one speaker shared a tip:<\/p>\n<p>instead of following up with<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, when can we schedule a workshop?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>try,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got some new content ideas that would be perfect for your next session. Do you have a date available?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make Your Follow-Up Original, Quality, and Meaningful. Give them a Reason to Call.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>Remember, effective follow-up for repeat business isn\u2019t just about checking in; it\u2019s about offering value and building a lasting connection.
