{"id":2702,"date":"2024-11-06T15:15:31","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T13:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.persuasion.co.il\/en\/?p=2702"},"modified":"2024-11-06T15:15:31","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T13:15:31","slug":"overcoming-client-objections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.persuasion.co.il\/en\/overcoming-client-objections\/","title":{"rendered":"Overcoming Client Objections: Effective Sales Techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mastering effective sales techniques for overcoming client objections is essential for building strong client relationships and achieving success in any sales role.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago, I collaborated with a college in Israel to offer my workshops there.<\/p>\n<p>One of the college\u2019s young, enthusiastic sales representatives had a great rapport with clients and truly believed in my course. However, she had one issue \u2013 she was more focused on service than sales.<\/p>\n<p>She spent a lot of time building rapport, listening, and showing interest in potential clients&#8217; stories, yet she didn\u2019t close enough sales or register enough people for the course.<\/p>\n<p>On the surface, she seemed like an ideal salesperson \u2013 friendly, empathetic, and attentive.<\/p>\n<p>But her role was to sell and enroll people in the workshop, which didn\u2019t happen as expected.<\/p>\n<p>When I delved deeper and listened to her calls, <strong>I realized the problem<\/strong>: instead of selling the course, the clients were \u201cselling\u201d her excuses about why they wouldn\u2019t attend, and she simply accepted these excuses <strong>without countering them!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One instance stood out.<\/p>\n<p>She told me about a potential client who wanted to come to the workshop but lived on the other side of the city and didn\u2019t have a car. She had spent hours trying to arrange a carpool for her with other registered participants. I stopped her because:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If a client genuinely wants to attend, they\u2019ll find a way \u2013 be it by bus, taxi, or even walking. The conversation should be about <strong>why<\/strong> it\u2019s worth attending, not arranging transportation.<\/li>\n<li>Her time should be focused on connecting with other interested clients and closing sales rather than logistical issues that could drain her energy without adding value.<\/li>\n<li>Our commitment is to paying clients, and there\u2019s no reason to impose additional responsibilities on them, like offering carpooling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ultimately, that client didn\u2019t register, despite taking up hours of her time.<\/p>\n<p>This \u201ccarpool story\u201d illustrates an important point: in every sales interaction, either you succeed in selling your product or service, or the potential clients succeed in \u201cselling\u201d you their reasons not to buy.<\/p>\n<p>Good service people, who lack strong sales skills, tend to take on clients&#8217; stories and reasons instead of overcoming objections to close the sale.<\/p>\n<p>Through years of experience working with sales teams, listening to recordings, and coaching individuals in sales skills, I\u2019ve seen this phenomenon repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p>I call it \u201cconceptual selling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For example, if a salesperson tells me, \u201cThe client really wants to buy, but her husband isn\u2019t on board right now,\u201d I respond that if she truly wanted it, she\u2019d find a way.<\/p>\n<p>The salesperson\u2019s job is to provide her with reasons that make the purchase worthwhile, not to internalize her excuses.<\/p>\n<p>Another example is when a salesperson says, \u201cThe client is sure to register for the next session; he\u2019s just waiting for his new credit card to arrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From my perspective, only payment signifies a real commitment \u2013 no payment, no sale.<\/p>\n<p>But to succeed &nbsp;don\u2019t let clients\u2019 excuses become your own.
