Not because it\u2019s easy, but because it\u2019s so effective when done right: <strong data-start=\"828\" data-end=\"855\">word-of-mouth marketing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"858\" data-end=\"872\">The challenge?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"874\" data-end=\"1007\">Most business owners and professionals <strong>don\u2019t know how<\/strong> to build word-of-mouth marketing that feels natural, scalable, and sincere.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1009\" data-end=\"1141\">Let me share a story that shows what authentic, organic word-of-mouth looks like &#8211; and how it can transform your reputation and reach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1362\">In February 2014, after delivering a lecture at a conference for businesswomen, one of the participants approached me and said, \u201cWe don\u2019t know each other and I don\u2019t think you\u2019re aware of this, <strong>but you changed my life!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1442\">Naturally, I was intrigued, so I asked her how and why I had changed her life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1465\">She shared her story:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"2117\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1469\" data-end=\"1667\">\u201cI\u2019m a lecturer, and in the past, whenever I would give a lecture, I would suffer from severe stage fright. Since then, every time I start to get nervous before a lecture, I just take a deep breath and remind myself of what you said, \u2018A lecture is just a conversation\u2026.\u2019 And it\u2019s all thanks to you!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2119\" data-end=\"2270\">Of course, I was thrilled to hear how my words had helped her, and I felt fulfilled knowing that my messages were not only practical but also valuable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2272\" data-end=\"2320\">But beyond that, I was happy for another reason.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2322\" data-end=\"2515\">As a mentor, lecturer, author, business owner, or entrepreneur, my goal is to make people <strong>think<\/strong> about me, <strong>talk<\/strong> about me, and <strong>share<\/strong> my insights with others &#8211; ideally, with <em>minimal effort and cost.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"356\" data-end=\"649\">That woman\u2019s story is a perfect example of one of the most powerful principles of viral marketing:<br data-start=\"454\" data-end=\"457\">If you give people something truly useful, a practical tool they can work with, they\u2019ll think about you every time they use it &#8211; <strong>and they\u2019ll subconsciously give you credit for their success.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"656\" data-end=\"879\">I talk more about this principle in <em><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.persuasion.co.il\/en\/social-proof-in-marketing\/\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"795\">this article on social proof in marketing<\/a><\/em>, which breaks down why third-party validation is more powerful than self-promotion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2807\" data-end=\"2940\">William Buckley was once asked, \u201cWhat book would you take with you to a desert island?\u201d<br data-start=\"2894\" data-end=\"2897\">His answer: \u201cA book on how to build ships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2942\" data-end=\"3012\">Now, think about that line in connection with the story I just shared.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3014\" data-end=\"3224\">The woman had heard my lecture along with hundreds of others.
