Thanks to a marketing campaign she launched during our mentorship, she landed an exciting opportunity with a large firm and reached out for help pricing her workshop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"487\">What happened next is something I see <strong>all the time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"586\">When I suggested a high price &#8211; one I knew was appropriate for a company of that size &#8211; she panicked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"634\"><strong data-start=\"588\" data-end=\"634\">\u201cThey\u2019ll never agree to that kind of sum!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"662\"><strong data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"662\">\u201cWho pays that much?!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"797\">She had planned to ask for a much lower fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"664\" data-end=\"797\">In fact, she kept lowering it further during our conversation, trying to \u201cplay it safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"831\">At one point, I had to stop her:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\"><strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">\u201cYou\u2019re negotiating with yourself. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\"><strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">Not with your customer. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\"><strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">Not even with their budget. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\"><strong data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">And definitely not with their needs.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"961\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"1169\">She hadn\u2019t even approached the client yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"1169\">She had no idea what their budget was or what they normally pay for similar services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"1169\">And still, she was preparing to ask for less than she believed she was worth.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1212\">&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1212\">What Can We Learn From &#8220;Price With Confidence&#8221;?<\/h3>\n<ol data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1877\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1214\" data-end=\"1403\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1403\"><strong data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1258\">Most people price themselves too low.<\/strong><br data-start=\"1258\" data-end=\"1261\">And when they do, they never know how much they would have earned. Know your worth. Communicate it clearly.
