A few years ago, I moved to a bigger apartment – just a few blocks away.<\/span><\/div>\n

As anyone who’s ever moved knows, it\u2019s not just about packing boxes. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
It\u2019s about dealing with endless logistics, unexpected expenses, and a whole lot of back-and-forth with suppliers and tradesmen.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
In my case, there were small renovations to do – plastering, painting, minor fixes – and a deep clean just before the movers arrived with everything from my old place. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
I’m a pretty tidy and organized person (or at least I like to think so…), so I had made a thorough checklist months in advance.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Naturally, that list grew longer by the day.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Some tasks I assumed would be tough – like changing my address and transferring bills – turned out to be surprisingly simple. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
But others, the ones I thought would be a breeze? <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Not so much. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Finding a reliable housekeeper, renovator, and mover proved to be unexpectedly complex.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
I started calling around – people I knew, recommendations from friends, online forums. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
That\u2019s when I noticed something interesting:<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n

    \n
  • Not a single one of them would give me a price over the phone – not even the housekeeper!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Some agreed to quote me only if I photographed the apartment from every possible angle and sent them pictures or videos first.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Eventually, each one gave me a written price quote – but only after seeing the place in person.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • And then came the kicker: every quote was higher <\/strong>than what I expected, remembered, or budgeted for.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          At first, I was frustrated. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

           <\/div>\n
          Then I paused\u2026 thought about it. <\/span><\/div>\n
           <\/div>\n
          And the more I reflected, the more I realized:<\/span>
          \nI was thrilled.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
           <\/div>\n
          Yes, it took more time, energy, and money.<\/span>
          \nYes, I had to hustle harder than I expected.<\/span>
          \nBut here\u2019s what I saw:<\/span><\/div>\n

          • These tradespeople – including the housekeeper – saw themselves as experts. They knew their value and priced accordingly.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • Every step was done professionally – written quotes, clear expectations, firm timelines.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              • And most impressively? They weren\u2019t willing to work with just anyone<\/strong>. They were auditioning me as a client, not the other way around.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                And honestly? I loved that.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

                 <\/div>\n
                Because for years, I\u2019ve been telling my clients the same thing.<\/span><\/div>\n
                 <\/div>\n
                If you want to succeed big time, over time, you need to treat your business like a business.<\/span><\/div>\n
                 <\/div>\n

                      • Choose your clients as carefully as they choose you<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                          \n
                        • And don\u2019t be afraid to walk away from the wrong ones<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          In the moment, all that structure felt a bit heavy and expensive.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

                           <\/div>\n
                           But looking back, it was better for me as a customer too. <\/span><\/div>\n
                           <\/div>\n
                          No hidden fees, no last-minute changes, no surprises. <\/span><\/div>\n
                           <\/div>\n
                          Everyone showed up on time, did the job right, and finished when they said they would.<\/span><\/div>\n
                           <\/div>\n
                          When you brand yourself as an expert, everyone wins.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
                          You. Your business. And your clients.<\/span><\/div>\n
